Meeting of the Russian Committee for UNESCO Education Programs

On April 21, a meeting of the Russian Committee for UNESCO Education Programs was held in Moscow under the chairmanship of Vladimir Filippov, President of the Peoples' Friendship University of Russia named after Patrice Lumumba.

The event was attended by Elena Galaktionova, Director of the Department for Multilateral Humanitarian Cooperation and Cultural Ties of the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Executive Secretary of the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO.

In her speech, she focused on the education agenda adopted in November 2025 following the 43rd session of the UNESCO General Conference in Samarkand, Uzbekistan, and on the prospects for cooperation with the Organization's new leadership in the Education Sector.

Committee members discussed the Russian Federation's implementation of the Marrakech Framework for Action on Adult Education, as well as plans for developing cooperation between UNESCO Chairs and partners from SCO, BRICS, CIS, and African Union countries.

Representatives from the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, the Ministry of Education, and Rosstat focused their attention on issues related to Russia's achievement of SDG 4 targets – Education 2030.

Following the meeting, a protocol was drawn up, recording the key topics discussed and the decisions adopted. In particular, the meeting addressed:
