      UNESCO chair launches a new project of open seminars on child psychology and pedagogy

      UNESCO chair launches a new project of open seminars on child psychology and pedagogy

      The UNESCO Chair on Early Childhood Education and Development of the International Pedagogical Academy of Preschool Education is launching a new project of open seminars in the field of child psychology and pedagogy.

      The first seminar will take place on November 27, 2025, at 11:00 Moscow time in an online format and will be dedicated to current issues of play and creativity in children, as well as their significance in the educational process.

      During the seminar, leading experts in child psychology will discuss the importance of play and creative approaches in child development. Among the speakers are Nikolay E. Veraksa, Head of the UNESCO Chair, Doctor of Psychology, Professor and Rector of the International Pedagogical Academy of Preschool Education, as well as Nikolay N. Veresov, Doctor of Psychology, Professor at Monash University (Australia).

      Within the framework of the seminar, the speakers will examine the following key topics:

      1. Play and Learning: How the play contributes to the formation of knowledge and skills in children.

      2. L.S. Vygotsky on play: The outstanding psychologist's perspective on the role of play in child development.

      3. Psychology of play: Studies by D.B. Elkonin and B.D. Elkonin on the psychology of play activity.

      4. A.V. Zaporozhets and A.N. Leontiev on play as an activity: An analysis of play as an important form of children's activity.

      5. Structure of play: The main components of play and their influence on child development.

      6. Dialectics of play: How play serves as an expression of freedom and contradictions inherent in the play process.

      7. What is creativity: Definition and significance of creativity in childhood.

      8. L.S. Vygotsky on creativity: The main ideas about creativity from one of the founders of child psychology.

      9. Possibilities of creativity in kindergarten: Practical aspects of implementing creative approaches in the educational process.

      10. Prospects for children's creativity: Future directions and opportunities for developing creative abilities in children.

      The seminar will be of interest to specialists, educators, psychologists, and everyone who is interested in child development through play and creativity.

      Participation requires registration for the event.

      All registered participants will receive a certificate from our Chair confirming participation in the seminar.

      On March 12, 2026, the Forum of UNESCO Chairs of the Russian Federation under the Commission of the Russian Federation for UNESCO took place. The Forum was held at the Plekhanov Russian University of Economics and was dedicated to reviewing the results of the work of UNESCO Chairs of the Russian Federation for the year 2025, familiarizing participants with the new conditions and forms of work for Chairs developed by UNESCO Headquarters, and formulating new plans in connection with these changes.
